Atlus has opened up the official website for its Career Soft-developed PlayStation 2 RPG Growlanser IV - Wayfarer of the Time. 2000 years ago mankind was on the brink of extermination, but as time passed most people forgot about those tragic events and dismissed the stories of angels punishing man and magic as fairy tales. Not anymore. On the continent of Neueval, four countries are existing next to each other. In each country rumor has it that the neighboring country will begin a military campaign any time soon. In this tense situation, a young boy who was raised as a mercanary, witnesses a six-winged angel flying high above the battle field. This is the beginning of another confrontation with the angels who almost wiped out mankind 2000 years ago. This time however, mankind has one advantage: A young boy named Greveniel who is the key to defeating the angels. Already as a child, he joined a mercenary unit and was raised together with the commander's daughter. Freena is a young girl who seems to have some connection to Greveniel. However, apart from her name, the young girl, who is a survivor from an ancient civilization (referred to as the Children of Ruin), does not remember anything about herself. After running into the protagonist, 15-year old Remus decides to travel together with him and join his group of mercenaries.

Growlanser IV employs a battle system based on previous installments' Realtime Mission Clear system. Dubbed War Situation Decision System, it will allow players to unleash "high-risk, high-return" attacks.

Growlanser IV - Wayfarer of the Time will be available in Japan sometime in winter 2003. In the meantime you can take a look at the first ten screen shots of the game as well as five pieces of character artwork.
