Okamoto Founds New Development Studio

In an interview with Dengeki Games, Capcom's former executive director Yoshiki Okamoto mentioned he was in the process of setting up a new development studio which will develop titles for multiple platforms. While he originally intended to call the new company Game Republic, he will have to settle with a different name, as the name is already claimed by a US publication. Currently, Okamoto himself is his company's only employee, but he will start a hiring drive soon. Possibly, he will also run a contest to find the best name for the new corporation. Also, he mentioned he would like to see all future staffers holding shares in the company and create an environment where every employee is president. Last but not least, he hopes to have an official website up by mid-July.

Yoshiki Okamoto resigned from Capcom earlier this year, due to a lack of consensus regarding the company's future policy, following losses exceeding $160 million US during the fiscal year 2002/2003.
