Sequel to Zelda: The Wind Waker Confirmed
05.24.03 - 6:28 PM

In a recent interview, Zelda director Eiji Aonuma mentioned that a sequel to Link's first adventure on the GameCube, The Wind Waker is currently in development. While he refused to give any details, he said, Nintendo plans to have a playable version of the sequel ready for next year's E3. Just like with the two Nintendo 64 installments Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the sequel to The Wind Waker will deploy the same graphics engine as its prequel, even though Aonuma mentioned he plans to improve everything a bit. He also made it clear that the cel-shaded visuals of the most recent Zelda title were indeed his idea, rather than Shigeru Miyamoto's. Resounding previous remarks by other company officials, Aonuma also made it clear that he wasn't working on any online titles, nor has he heard of any yet. Instead, Nintendo would focus on connectivity between its two platforms, the GameCube and GameBoy Advance SP.
