During its pre-E3 press conference, Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that Square Enix's MMORPG Final Fantasy XI will be available in early 2004, along with the PlayStation 2 harddisk drive.

The North American beta testing phase for Final Fantasy XI will begin in July 2003.
