In its recent issue, Japanese publication Dorimaga interviewed several high-profile figures from various game companies regarding the likelihood of various titles. Not so surprisingly, Square Enix character designer Tetsuya Nomura ruled out Final Fantasy VII-2, saying that it would need a lot of staff to develop such a title and as a matter of fact the company wasn't working on anything like it. Unlike his president Youichi Wada in an earlier interview, Nomura didn't want to confirm the development of a sequel to last year's highly successful action RPG Kingdom Hearts, saying no formal decision has been made yet.

Shin Megami Tensei producer Kouji Okada mentioned a new MegaTen title would be developed soon.

Last but not least, Capcom, Spike and Dream Factory are jointly working on Crimson Tears, a new title reminiscent of The Bouncer. While Capcom and Spike manage the production, Dream Factory is developing the PlayStation 2 title, which is currently 30% complete. The visuals will have a toon-shaded touch to them and players will be able to choose among three main characters: Asuka, Kaede and Tokio. The game will employ automatically generated dungeons. No release date has been announced so far.
