Zelda: The Wind Waker Sells 800,000 Copies

Nintendo of America has announced that its Nintendo GameCube title The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker has sold more than 826,000 copies in March, making it by far the best-selling title in the NPD Group's monthly sales charts. Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire for the GameBoy Advance managed to rank up sales of a combined 1.2 million copies. Powered by these three titles, Nintendo of America managed to become March's No.1 publisher of software. Hardware sales of the new GameBoy Advance SP were equally impressive.

Despite the good news, Nintendo's performance during the fiscal year ending on March 31st 2003 didn't look so bright. The company only managed to sell 5.6 instead of an originally projected 10 million GameCube units worldwide, resulting in lower than expected sales and profit.
