Konami Sells 20 Million Units of Software Worldwide Konami Computer Entertainment has reported worldwide sales of its software have surpassed 20 million units for the second consecutive year. 8 million units were sold in Japan and 12 million overseas. In Japan, the best performing title was Winning Eleven 6, which became the first PlayStation 2 sports title to break the platinum mark in Japan. In the US, strong sales of the Yu-Gi-Oh series contributed to the impressive results. The third installment of Konami's RPG series, Suikoden III for the PlayStation 2 performed well on both sides of the Pacific. For the upcoming fiscal year, Konami's game software division aims to become the "global content king", by improving on the already impressive results of the current fiscal year. Despite the strong performance of Konami Computer Entertainment, Konami only last week announced a loss of 27 billion yen (224.74 million USD), due to problems with its fitness operations. |
