Zelda Tops Japanese Charts

The recent incarnation of The Legend of Zelda, Kaze no Takuto (Wind Waker in the US) easily jumped to the top spot of the Japanese sales charts, after being released on December 13th. The game has sold 294,318 copies in Japan as of December 15th. Spots 3 and 4 are also held by Nintendo games, with Pokemon Sapphire and Ruby pushing their totals to 1,165,876 and 1,126,461 millions units respectively. Erosion Pollution (to be titled Outbreak in the US), the third volume of Bandai's popular PlayStation 2 RPG series .hack, entered the charts on spot 5 selling 98,971 units. Despite dropping from 4 to 10, Namco's Tales of Destiny 2 continues to fare well and has sold 50,741 copies this week, pushing its total to 702,590 copies. Level 5's sequel to Dark Cloud, Dark Chronicle, came in on spot 21 selling another 18,944 copies for a total of 153,619 copies. Torneko 3 from Enix dropped to spot 31 by selling 7,683 copies (for a total of 485,739). Square's PlayStation One remake of Final Fantasy II sold 5,362 copies to reach spot 49, bringing its total to 136,370 copies.
