Square Releases Sales Numbers and Financial Data Today Square announced its financial data for the first half of the current fiscal year as well as sales numbers of several key games. Currently there are 180,000 suscribers to its PlayOnline Service and Final Fantasy XI. The sales of the game's PlayStation 2 version have reached 210,000 copies. Final Fantasy X has sold 1.08 million copies in Europe, while Kingdom Hearts has sold 580,000 times to date in North America. With the upcoming releases of several big titles, in particular Unlimited SaGa and Final Fantasy X-2, Square hopes to sell a total of 8.9 million units of software worldwide (4.3 million in Japan, 1.9 million in North America and 2.7 million in Europe). While it was confirmed that the development of Square's first GameCube title Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle will indeed by completed by the end of the year, the game's sales aren't included in the figures mentioned above. Compared to a loss of 13.2 billion yen (107.61 million USD) during the same peroid of the previous fiscal year, Square managed to report black numbers again, by posting a profit of 400 million yen (3.26 million USD) this time around. Consolidated sales rose by 39.1%, operating profit by 71.8% compared to the same peroid of the previous fiscal year. For the current term, consolidated sales of 32.7 billion yen (266.57 million USD), an operating profit of 7.1 billion yen (57.88 million USD) and a net profit of 4.8 billion yen (39.13 million USD) have been projected. |
