Mac Game Status Update Mac RPG news has been scarce at best in recent weeks, but progress has been made on a lot of high profile games. Heroes of Might & Magic IV has gone gold, and with only a general 'November' release date, should be available very soon. Neverwinter Nights still has no definite release, but MacSoft (who is handling the port) is making progress. Developer Bioware has put up a page with weekly status updates on the Mac version. The most recent update also has 12 screenshots of the game running under Mac OS X. Yes, it requires OS X to run. Westlake Interactive has announced Dungeon Siege is Mac-bound sometime in 2003. Currently it is at 'First Playable' stage. The game will run under OS X, but OS 8.6-9.x compatibility is still undecided. Also coming from Westlake is EverQuest. Yes, at last. EverQuest recently reached Alpha stage, so while the game is not due out until next spring, there's plenty of progress being made. Publisher Sony Online Entertainment also has a FAQ page up on their site relating to the game. As you may have guessed, EverQuest will be OS X-only. That's about it for the time being. A big thanks to MacCentral, as usual, for the heads-up on most of this news. |
