Shin Megami Tensei III Heading for PS2

After months of speculation, Weekly Famitsu finally revealed in its recent issue that Atlus is indeed developing Shin Megami Tensei III - nocturne- for PlayStation 2. The game's main theme will be creation. The entire environment will be displayed in real-time 3D for the first time in the series (leaving aside the other Shin Megami Tensei game currently in development, NINE for Xbox) and both dungeons and events will differ from its predecessors'. The game's protagonist is a typical senior high school student, who is living in Tokyo. Prior to the game's beginning he has a dream in the underground and when he wakes up, he finds himself in a totally different place, a city called Tokyo Conception. The destroyed world in which this city is located is called Vortex World. No human being of flesh and blood can survive in its deadly environment. Hence the protagonist's body is revived with the help of demons, well known from the series' previous installments. Now he is ready to embark on his adventure into the ruined world.

During battles, players can have up to four characters in their party. The camera isn't fixed, but freely rotatable during battles.

Shin Megami Tensei III -nocturne- is set for a spring 2003 release. RPGFan will bring you the newest information on the game, as it becomes available.
