Enix Shareholders Meeting

In their shareholder meeting last week, Enix commented on a number of issues regarding their future games. According to unofficial reports from sources close to the developer, the following things were brought up:

Enix is currently working on four games: Star Ocean 3, Dragon Quest VIII, and two Game Arts titles. The system Dragon Quest VIII will be on has still not actually been announced, although it is commonly assumed it will the PS2, as Enix is only developing for PS2, GBA and PC for the time being. Dragon Quest series supervisor Yuuji Horii stated that DQVIII will be "quite different" from the previous games in the series. Enix is supposedly currently thinking about when to unveil the game; they had previously stated they're planning to release it around March 2004.

Additionally, Enix is also currently working on GBA and PS2 titles; they are however not working on any GameCube titles at the moment, which means there will probably be no DQVIII on GC. The Xbox has not been mentioned in the meeting at all. The company has emphasized its will to "put efforts into developing online games".

Another interesting tidbit that was brought up is that once development for Star Ocean 3 is over, Enix and Tri-Ace will be looking into making Valkyrie Profile a series.

As for the two Game Arts games, Enix had confirmed previously that Grandia II character designer Kanoe Yuushi is working on one of them, which means it could very well be a Grandia sequel.

At the end of the meeting, the attendees were given golden Metal slimes figures. Enix will be Enix.
