Final Fantasy XI Tops Japanese Charts Square's online RPG Final Fantasy XI has topped the Japanese sales charts by selling 76,136 units until May 19th. While it is impressive to see an online game upset the entire packaged competition, sales for the eleventh installment of the Final Fantasy series were obviously on a pretty low level, in particular compared to its offline predecessors. Other entries of RPGs in the Top 20 include Kingdom Hearts which has sold another 13,429 copies to bring its total to an impressive 737,635. Banpresto's Super Robot Taisen Alpha for PlayStation 2 dropped from 9 to 13, selling 6,410 copies totalling up to 561,627. Nintendo's Fire Emblem: The Sealed Sword is the fourth and last RPG to be found in this week's Top 20 at spot 16 selling 5,030 units and a total of 215,653. |
