New GameCube Zelda In the Works?

Many people have had varying opinions on the Legend of Zelda in the works for GameCube, with it's cel-shaded graphics. While it could be argued that the important thing is gameplay and not graphics, that's something to discuss later.

For now though, there might just be something in the works for those longing for more of a serious Zelda game like the Nintendo 64 had. The new issue of the Official U.K. Nintendo Magazine is reporting that a Zelda compilation is in the works for the GameCube.

The collection will contain 3 discs, one of which will contain a remake of the first 3D outing in the series, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The game is said to have redone graphics, and even new areas that weren't in the N64 game. Don't expect these 'redone' graphics to use a cel-shading technique, however. They will probably be something similar to the N64 games, and the early Zelda shots shown at Space World long ago - darker, more detailed, and realistic.

The contents of the other two discs remain a mystery, but the collection has a tentative release date of sometime in 2003. Will we see or hear more about this at E3 next week? We just might. Stay tuned.
