Konohana True Report was a novel-type school adventure game for PlayStation and Dreamcast, released on April 26th 2001. The player assumes the role of a student called Meguro Momoi. Just before the opening ceremony of the new school year, a teacher is mysteriously killed. Against his will, Momoi is forced by his fellow student and wanna-be reporter Miako Tachibana to help her searching for clues. Soon they find a shadow of dark secrets at their school.
The game's sequel, Konohana 2, will be released for PlayStation 2 at the end of the month. The player again controls Meguru Momoi, who, along with his fellow student Miako Tachibana, is investigating another mysterious murder, this time of a senior student at their campus. A basket in the victim's room caught fire and even though it could have been put out soon, the student died and a mysterious message, "The verdict of Angel Mikael is..." was found in the room.
Konohana 2 is currently set for a May 30th release in Japan, carrying an extremely affordable price tag of 3,800yen ($29.71USD).
Last but not least, there also is a J-phone Java version of Konohana, called Konohana if, which has been available since August 2001 through J-SkyWeb for a monthly fee of 300yen ($2.35USD).
