E3 Is On the Horizon Game companies from around the world will unveil over 1,000 video and computer game related products at the 2002 Electronic Entertainment Exposition, and eighty percent of the 400 exhibitors have reported that three-quarters of their products will be on store shelves by the holiday season. Of the products that will be shown at E3, half will be for video game consoles. Also, 39 percent of all new titles exhibited are PC-based, 17.5 percent are for handheld systems, 7.8 percent are online-only games, and 3.4 percent are for PDAs or handphones. The products shown at E3 cover a wide range of genres, including action games (28.4 percent), Sports and Driving games (16.7 percent), Adventure games (12.1 percent), Family Games (10.9 percent), RPGs (8.3 percent), Strategy Games (7.3 percent), Educational Games (6 percent), and Simulation Games (3.2 percent). The eighth annual Electronic Entertainment Exposition will take place from May 22nd to May 24th. |
