Players can explore the world of Dungeon Siege with up to eight characters at a time. Starting as a normal farmer, the player can choose to become a fighter, archer, or mage to join seven other characters in solo play. Over 1000 different types of armor and weapons and 100 types of spells are available to be used by the player.

Multi-player options include not only the single-player campaign, but also a completely new setting that is almost twice the size of the single-player experience. The game will also support a special game design tool, the Siege Editor, which will allow the player to create completely new worlds to explore. The Siege Editor will be available soon after the release.
