Lunar Legend Update

The next Lunar remake is on its way with Lunar: Legend for the GBA, scheduled for an April 12th release in Japan. The remake will however not be an exact port of the PlayStation/Saturn or Mega CD versions, there will be as previously announced new events, but also new sub quests and dungeons. The character sprites (which can be seen on the animated GIFs page) are now SDs both in battle and in the map. Additionally, just like the bromides in the previous versions, there will be collectable trading cards that can be found throughout the game. They will be monster cards, character cards or dragon cards among others, and there will be over 170 different cards total. Of course, they can be exchanged with other players using the link cable. In battle, characters can inflict critical hits but also 'super critical' hits; a new gauge will also allow the characters to unleash special attacks. The new pictures of the new animated cut scenes are quite reminiscent of the 16 bits anime games, and confirm that the game will not be re-using the animation made for the Saturn version.

We have new Lunar Legend media for your viewing pleasure: 16 screen shots, new artwork, the official packaging and 20 animated GIFs.
There is still no word on a possible western release of the title, but it remains possible.
