Lufia Gaiden: Ruins of Silence Media, Info

Only a few months after the release of the long anticipated Lufia: The Legend Returns, Taito is already working on a new Lufia (Estpolis in Japan) game, entitled Estpolis Gaiden: Chinmoku no Iseki (Estpolis Chronicles Side Story: Ruins of Silence) for the Game Boy Advance, as announced a few months ago.

The main character is the 14-year old son of a Treasure Hunter, who disappeared in search of an ancient treasure. He lives in a town called Parselight, with his mother. Thomas is the hero's childhood friend and since he lost his parents when he was small, he has been raised by his grandfather, whom he calls an "excentric old stubborn head". He himself is somewhat stubborn and often gets into fights. Lastly, Rami, the girl, is also a childhood friend of the hero's; she had left Parselight for a while but came back in order to get a Hunter's qualification.

If the game's strong point will seemingly not be the originality of the story, the system may have a few surprises with a so called "disc monster" system. By gathering "IP", you can "install" monsters and combine them with the characters to create human/monster hybrids that can perform more powerfuls attacks (a la Final Fantasy Legend). The character's looks will differ depending on the monsters 'installed'.

Estpolis Gaiden is currently scheduled to release on March 1st in Japan. The game will be playable by four persons at the same time and will feature randomly generated dungeon focusing on strategic action, with a lot of puzzles. There are currently no official plans for a stateside release, but it remains possible at the time. Additionally, we have the first few screen shots and some game artwork.
