Elemental Saga On Indefinite Hold After several months in beta testing, the English version of Elemental Saga has been put on indefinite hold as a result of a number of core design issues. As of October 29th, US servers will go offline and all character information will be lost. While the status and progress of Elemental Saga will be re-evaluated in several months, no plans to resume US beta test services are currently scheduled. Set in a post-apocalyptic world after a devastating nuclear war near the end of the 21st century, Elemental Saga is a MMORPG with a heavy emphasis on combat. The embodiment of the Earth's life force, Gaia, threatened by the scorched, polluted state of her world, opened a pair of portals in hopes of restoring the balance of life to the planet - one portal to the spirit realm to rejuvenate the Earth and the other to the demon realm to bring about the destruction of the human race. Fortunately, some humans became sensitive to the presence of these elemental spirits and learned to harness their magic, giving rise to elemental spirit magicians. Assuming the role of one such magician, players struggle to survive in the hostile world of Elemental Saga with the help of their elemental spirit magic, both in the form of powerful spells and via summoned elemental spirit weapons and armor for melee combat. Developed by Nexon, Elemental Saga would have followed up on a run of successful online PC games from the company. Previous online projects from Nexon include MMORPGs like Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds and Dark Ages, as well as the more recent online real-time strategy game Shattered Galaxy. Progress on the English version of Elemental Saga may have come to a close, but the Korean beta test will continue regardless. Also, while a final version of the game may never see a North American release, you can still take a peek at RPGFan's collection of Elemental Saga pictures.
