Big Blue Box Releases Project Ego Screens

While not much was known at the time, Big Blue Box Studios wowed E3-goers with an initial round of test screens for their upcoming Xbox RPG, Project Ego. The promise of a lush, immersive environment with a variable and slightly non-linear gameplay element did much to pique the interest of gamers who were worried about a lack of Xbox RPGs.

Although not slated for release until later in 2002, Big Blue Box has released an updated set of screens from the current beta build. Even though the game is still early in development, Big Blue Box assures us that all of these shots are direct screen-grabs from working Xbox hardware, and not CG renders. With almost a year more of development ahead of it, Project Ego is shaping up to be an absolutely gorgeous game.

Not many details have been released about gameplay at this point, however the main premise behind Project Ego is one of character/plot evolution over time. The game starts with the main character as a child, and decisions made through the course of the game will have a dramatic impact on both the story of the game and his physical appearance. While the screens portray some very different scenes, the highlighted person in each scene is still representative of the main character in different situations.

We will have more screens and information as it becomes available.
