New Information On Grandia Extreme Previously tentatively entitled Grandia X, GameArts and Enix's first collaboration's title has now been revealed to be Grandia Extreme. The world of Grandia Extreme is a country where three tribes co-exist: humans, a fairy-like tribe, and a beast-like tribe. One day, a natural disaster known as the "Spirits' Wild Run" occurs in the country and causes another frontier country to attack it. The game's main character, whose name is unknown, will try to put an end to this calamity by penetrating the ruins of an ancient civilization... The visuals of Grandia Extreme should be in the vein of those from Grandia II. The character designer is reported to be Kamui Fujiwara, better known for his work on the Dragon Quest: Emblem of Roto manga, the more recent Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden manga, and his character designs for games such as Tenchi Souzou (Terranigma) and E.V.O. The game will retain the series' "Ultimate Action System" battle system, however the gauge will evolve in some way. Character growth will also supposedly revolve around a new system. Grandia Extreme is currently scheduled for a Spring 2002 release, and will be developed by GameArts and published by Enix as previously announced. |
