Retro Reader Reviews

With all the new reviews I've been putting up lately, though it was time to break for a look back at the good old days of the NES, thanks to these reviews by reader Sl0th.

First up we've got a review of the originator, the instigator, the progena-tor, Square's Final Fantasy. Harder, simpler, but oh so nummy.

Next is a review of Nintendo's Star Tropics, followed by a review of Star Tropics 2: Zoda's Revenge. I played the first one and enjoyed it, but never got to the second one, so go check it out.

Before I go, I thought I'd clarify something for everyone out there about the retro reader reviews. I've gotten questions about why RPGFan tries to maintain sections with reviews of old 8 and 16-bit titles.

The reason is twofold: it helps better educate the retro-gamer when he/she goes shopping at Funcoland or wherever and it also helps ground gamers who are constantly awash in flashy graphics, to remind them that it didn't always take millions of polygons or pre-rendered this and that to make a good game (though it helps).

Well, break over, so we'll get back to more current reviews. Enjoy.
