TORN Details and Screens Black Isle Studios, makers of the award-winning Baldur's Gate series for PC, has finally revealed some new information on their latest PC project, TORN. The game will take place in the land of Agathe in the ancient kingdom of Orislane. TORN will use a realtime, 3D version of the Fallout rule system, with an option to pause the game in order to issue commands to the characters. TORN will boast multiple story-arcs, highly reactive NPCs, and an open-ended, non-linear gameplay style, in which you can customize your own quest solutions using diplomacy, stealth, or straight-out combat, in either single or multi-player (up to 6 players) modes. The game will also feature both premade characters and an extensive character creation system which includes new Perks, (such as fire spell-enhancing Pyromancy), Traits, (Lone-Wolf lets you work better without a party), Skills (the HP-increasing "fortitude") and new races such as sidhe and ogres, in addition to the usual fare of humans, halflings, elves, etc. TORN is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter 2001, but until then, take a gander at some of the screenshots we have up. |
