Fresh off the presses, Sony Online Entertainment, makers of the highly popular (and highly addictive) Everquest and its expansions have announced that they will be re-releasing the original Everquest for a rock bottom price of $9.99. Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Don Vercelli explains that, "While the hard-core gaming community has brought EverQuest to the pinnacle of online gaming, the new value price will appeal to casual gamers allowing them to experience the world of Norrath for the first time." The game will be released in both jewel case and mini-box formats.

In other news, Blizzard is accepting applications for beta testers for the expansion to their hit sequel, Diablo II entitled Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. You can sign up over at Blizzard's site here.

Shrapnel Games has announced a partnership with Crosscut Games to publish Rune Sword II. The game, split up into two full length adventures and various mini-quests, will ship in two parts on April 30th and should retail for $39.99. Those who preorder will get a $5.00 discount.

Finally, comic book company, ComicsOne Co. has announced a partnership with World Netgames Inc., the American subsidiary of JCEntertainment, makers of the MMORPG RedMoon to create a comic book series based on the game world. “Our U.S. game players will finally be able to read the full exciting story on which RedMoon is based; an essential element for them to get the most enjoyment from playing”, said Jason Kim, President of World Netgames Inc.

The announcement means that the comics will be packaged with copies of the game itself. “This gives us the opportunity to expand the comic book experience for our readers, as well as tap the potential readership of millions of online game players”, Robin Kuo, President of ComicsOne said. In addition, future plans include other language versions of the comic (such as Chinese) as well as additional comics/titles.
