PSO News Aplenty

Sega has decided to skip this year's TGS to host their own expo, called GameJam, at Zepp Tokyo from April 14th till the 15th. Shenmue II will be shown, as will be Sakura Taisen 3 and Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2.

Speaking of Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2, you can now pre-order it through Dreamcast Direct. Not that this really helps you much if you don't live in Japan, but it's a cool thing to know. :) Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2 releases in Japan on May 17th. No price has been set yet, and Sega of America have yet to comment on a US release. Considering the insane popularity of PSO in the States though, I'd say we'll get another helping of digital crack.

In yet more PSO news, Sega of Japan and Famitsu are sponsoring the PSO Fan Cup, where players (in Japan) compete in a timed quest. Ranking depends on the number of enemies killed and time spent to complete the mission. Prizes include 1,500,00 yen (about $1,500 US) and the rarest item in the game. No US players may participate unfortunately. The competetion started on Friday, so it may be over by now. Sega of America haven't announced a US PSO tournament yet...but keep your fingers crossed!

Square announced their lineup for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. Titles shown will include Final Fantasy II, Wild Card, and Blue Wing Blitz for the WonderSwan Color. The big surprise though is a playable, yes playable, version of Final Fantasy X.

Konami will be releasing a new GameBoy Advance RPG in Japan on April 26th. The game, titled GetBackers, is based on the manga (comic) of the same name. You are hired by people to find missing items or take them back from thieves. The game releases for 5800 yen.
