Hello RPGFans! It's December 10th and that means it's only 3 days 'till my 1-year anniversary as an RPGFan staffer! So, this week is going to be a special week for the section, we're doing a few larger updates so make sure to check back often. Anyway, let's get down to work, shall we?

Sega's on the edge of their seat, the Dreamcast is a one-way ticket to the top of the industry, or the rock bottom. So as you can imagine, it's been quite a ride for Sega during the first year of the Dreamcast's lifespan. In 2001, the DC is going to grow up quickly, as the second-generation games start to hit the shelves. Possibly the most anticipated game yet is Phantasy Star Online. Developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega, Phantasy Star Online promises to make huge strides in online gaming, but there's a bigger task to be overcome before they get their glory. Phantasy Star Online takes on the biggest challenge yet to any developer, to become the first ever online real-time RPG. So, they can get it to work online, but can they keep the game running at a pace that will keep gamers coming back? The answer is yes, after the launch of Sega's online gaming service, SegaNet, things should be running smoothly by the time the game is released.
