Soundtracks From Iwadare!Today's mini-update in soundtracks brings us two CDs from Noriyuki Iwadare, one being a little gem from Grandia II, the other being from Lunar: Eternal Blue!That's right, Parn (everyone's favorite editor!) has brought us up to speed in the world of Iwadare with his review of the mini-soundtrack Grandia II ~Melodia~, which comes with a limited edition package of the game. This is our first taste of Grandia II's music, and it's soundin' pretty good! Expect a review of the full OST, Grandia II A Deus, from Parn as soon as he finds the time to do it. Until then, check out Melodia by clicking here. Parn's other soundtrack review today (one I've been waiting to see for a long time) is the Lunar: Eternal Blue OST. This CD is a pretty hard find, but this review may encourage you to look harder for such a well-composed creation. Read this review by clicking here. ...I know, I know. I said the massive Square Soundtrack would be next. However, it's taking a backseat to two different soundtrack updates. One is this one, the other will be the "Tribute to Sakuraba Part 2: ARRANGE edition!". Here, you will find reviews of both Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean: The Second Story Arranged CDs...And if we're lucky, we'll get a review of Shining Force Symphonic Suite from a reader! On to the soundtrack news: Just released yesterday was a domestic CD that no one had heard about until about a week ago. This CD is "The Best of Final Fantasy: 1994-1999". The CD contains a total of 11 tracks, from FF 6-8. When analyzed, one will see that the tracklist is the first track of each disc of the FF 6-8 OSTs, respectively. The first track on the CD is "Tina", the last one is "Mods de Chocobo"...see? This CD came out of the blue, with no hype at all. However, from initial impressions, it seems that it deserved no hype as it is getting mediocre reviews at best. RPGFan will have a review of it shortly. Along with domestic soundtrack releases, Tokyopop/Mixx Entertainment will be releasing OSTs to Square's Parasite Eve 2 and Final Fantasy IX. Neither have begun selling as of yet, but once they are out, RPGFan will have reviews of these as well. Finally, CD Japan has their list of October soundtracks coming. Among them is the Genso Suikoden Gaiden OST, with a release date of October 4th, 2000. Newly released is the Dragon Quest VII Symphonic Suite (containing OST and arrange on two discs), which will hopefully be reviewed in the near future. Remember: WE WANT YOUR REVIEWS! ^_^ - Ramza |
