Challenge Fate

... is the simple slogan Square is using to promote Chrono Cross in it's 2-page magazine ad. The ad began running in this month's (August) EGM, as forecasted earlier this month. The basic design also bears a striking resemblance to one of the Japanese magazine ads. Check it out here.

Soon after Chrono Cross' release in Japan, there were two books published about it by DigiCube, Square's merchandise-selling subsidiary. The first was the Chrono Cross Ultimania guide. Basically a guide with everything you ever wanted to know... and a whole lot of stuff you probably didn't need to know, about nearly every single aspect of the game. The second was more or less an artbook, called Chrono Cross: Missing Piece. The chance of either book being translated and released domestically is virtually zero, but at least you can see what these books look like on the products page!

Chrono Cross is set for an August 16 release date and a MSRP of $39.99. By pre-ordering at Gamestop.com (and possibly at Software Etc. and Babbage's stores), you get a promotional clock (see picture on the products page), though supplies are limited, so you may want to pre-order... now.
