Eternal Eyes U.S. Screens

Eternal Eyes is a PlayStation strategy RPG developed by Sunsoft, which will be released this Summer in the U.S. and Europe. It was entitled Kouklo Theatro: Eternal Eyes in Japan. This game uses an isometric view along with a 3D world and 2D sprites. The battles are somewhat reminiscent of Rhapsody.

As a special treat for our readers, we have 10 English screen shots straight from Silicon Magazine. We also have lots of Japanese media from Eternal Eyes including 34 screen shots and 19 pieces of artwork. Finally, we have the Japanese, U.S., and European packaging shots.

Eternal Eyes is the story of Ruka, a 13 year-old boy from the legendary muppet-controlling family of "Kouklo Theatro". "Muppets" are small magical puppets that join your party and fight in battle. Eternal Eyes features a system called "MMS", which stands for "Muppet Metamorphose System". The muppets can be merged with 24 different Gems that will make them evolve into different muppet monsters. A total of 150 different monsters exist in the game and are indexed in a Poké... er, muppet encyclopedia. The muppets can receive instructions in battle from the weapons of the characters. The muppets also gain experience just like the characters.

Three personalities participated in the development of the game. The scenario was written by Kenji Terada, who is none other than the scenario writer of the first three Final Fantasy games, as well as the anime Kimagure Orange Road, amongst many others. The character design is by Kouhime Ouse, who also designed Marie no Atelier and Abarenbou Princess. Lastly, the image song of the game, "Ambition", is perfomed by Mizuki Watanabe, a budding 19 year-old singer who debuted in 1999.

Eternal Eyes was released on December 2nd 1999 in Japan and is expected this summer in the states and Europe.
