Dreamcast Sakura Taisen

For those who didn't catch our previous updates about the Dreamcast remake of Sakura Taisen, here's a recap of everything you need to know about the Dreamcast re-release of the super popular strategy/dating simulation!

  • The game graphics will of course be entirely improved, with high-resolution pictures and renewed visuals. The Dreamcast's abilities should give a second wind to the 1996 classic.
  • Network Interaction: With your Dreamcast you'll be able to browse through the official page, and possibly access extra stuff through the Internet.
  • Puru Puru Pack support: In critical situations the controller will vibrate.
  • New uses of the Visual Memory Station's screen, to display the characters' faces and emotions.
  • Battle system improvements: You can now quick-save during battles and you have the "return" option as in Sakura Taisen 2!
  • Omake disc: Sakura Taisen will come with a bonus disc containing ST3 promotion media.
  • When you finish the game, you can use your ST saves in ST2 and ST3.
  • You don't need to finish the game anymore to play the "extra" mode: the Teigeki's Longest Day is available as soon as you finish Episode 1!
  • The game now supports the analog controller, with Analog LIPS (Live Interactive Picture System): you can now control the emphasis of your reaction.

We've got 28 screen shots of the DC Sakura Taisen! The most notable difference is probably the bigger, improved fonts that look much better on the Dreamcast. Other than this, the graphics look very similar; they're in a higher resolution, though. You can also take a look at the Dreamcast packaging here.

The game is being released just tomorrow in Japan so check back with RPGFan for more screen shots and info on the game!
