Pics and Movies from Interplay RPGs

Black Isle Studios has really been establishing itself as the premier RPG maker on the PC in recent years. With titles such as the Fallout series, Baldur's Gate and the critically acclaimed Planescape: Torment, Black Isle Studios seems to have their work cut out for them by continuing to release such high quality titles. However, fear not because it looks as if we will be getting another 3 more quality RPGs from them in the next year or so.

First on their release list is Icewind Dale. This AD&D RPG uses the same engine as Baldur's Gate but it's a more simple game and doesn't have huge landscapes and multiple cities and such. This one is more of a dungeon crawl but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. It all depends on personal preferences really. Just like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale will feature multiplayer online play although the game still has a single player mode. We've got some new screenshots of the game which you can find right here, along with a trailer movie which can be found here. The game is due to be released at the begining of June 2000.

The sequel to one of the most popular RPG in recent years: Baldur's Gate 2: Shadown of Amn is scheduled to be released in the Fall of this year and if you've played the original game, you know what to expect from the sequel. If you want to know all the details of the sequel, I suggest that you head over to this page because every question you could have is answered in this little Q&A. We've got new screenshots of the game right here as well as a trailer movie right here.

The last RPG is NeverWinter Nights and it is shaping up to be one amazing game. Unlike the other 2 titles, this one uses a completely 3D polygonal engine and features some incredible ligthing and shadow effect. The developpers are really trying to capture the feel of the classic AD&D pen & paper game with this one and like the other 2 games, this one will also be an online-multiplayer game. We had the opportunity to watch a little presentation of the game behind closed doors at E3 and the game looked really impressive. We'll be back with more details on this game in a future news story but for now, I'll leave you with some new screenshots which can be found right here. This game is slated to be released in the summer of 2001.
