July - Front Mission 3 with multilingual manuals. August - Parasite Eve 2, in English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian. 4th Quarter - Final Fantasy IX. Square will begin beta testing their Playonline network in Japan sometime between the fall and winter of this year. Trial beta copies of Final Fantasy X for the Playstation 2 and for the PC will be distributed this fall. The game is scheduled for a release next spring. Idea Factory, being fully committed now to the Playstation 2, is developing a new fantasy RPG. Kingdom of Chaos will have network capabilities. All is not lost for Playstation players though, since Idea Factory hasn't forgotten you too. They are also working on a new Playstation RPG, due for release this June, called Embrace of Suna. A fantasy desert world called Neverland is the backdrop; you play a treasure hunter who hunts for treasure in different places, resell the treasure for money, or combine them to create new weapons and armor. Finding a food and water is also a key element to the game; you are in the desert after all. In E3 news, both Legends of Might & Magic 3 and Ultima Online 2 will be shown at the trade show. For those that have forgotten (shame on you!) or those that just didn't know (wow, have you been living under a rock?), E3 is set this year for May 11th-13th and is at the Convention Center in beautiful smog-ridden Los Angeles. Koei is developing Angelique Trois for the Playstation 2. It's another installment of their dating and war simulation game. This is the first time the game series has been fully polygonal. Ubi Soft will be releasing the European version of 3DO's Heroes of Might & Magic III on June 2nd for the Dreamcast. Here are some promotional pictures from Square's Summer of Adventure. Enjoy!
