US Chrono Cross Screens and Box Art!

Today we bring you the North American packaging and first English screen shots of Square's Chrono Trigger sequel, Chrono Cross.

The packaging is markedly different from the Japanese one. Where the Japanese one has a static render of one of the game's locales (though two characters are visible, albeit very tiny), the US version features a rendered scene with the game's main characters on it, which in many people's opinions, actually looks better than the original. Check it out here (note: these pics were part of an April Fools joke).

As if that wasn't good enough, we also bring you the exclusive on the English translation of the game! Now, these are pretty early shots, which you should keep in mind, because the translation thus far lacks a decent amount of polish in some areas. We noticed a few grammatical and punctuation errors, as well as a name change for one of the characters, as "Orlha" is now called "Jane". Odd indeed, though again, this may very well change in the final version. Another point worth mentioning is in a screen shot of the items menu, one of the items hasn't been translated to English. Let's hope Square's large amount of localizations this year (seven, possibly eight) doesn't mean they're skimping on quality. In any event, be the first to see these pics right here.

And don't forget, Chrono Cross is due in stores on August 2nd!
