New info on Sakura Taisen GB!

As previously reported, Red Company's hyper popular series Sakura Taisen is being ported to the Game Boy.

The GB version's complete title has been revealed to be Sakura Taisen GB Geki - Hanagumi Nyuutai! (Which translates to 'Sakura Wars GB Manifesto! A Hanagumi Recruit').

Storyline-wise, the most notable difference known is that the player doesn't play as Oogami Ichirou anymore. You now have the part of an as-yet-nameless youth, who has just joined the army and will experience a month of living with the Hanagumi.

For the first time, the player will able to enjoy playing LIPS with Oogami Ichirou! (which is not what it sounds like :P) The LIPS system ("Live Interaction Picture System"), a Sakura Taisen feature that requires the player to choose an answer or reaction in a limited time in order to interact with the other characters, remains in this version. However, it appears that the player will now be able to modify the amount of time he or she has.

Like in the previous games, the characters will be holding theater performances (most of them being based on famous novels or tales), and Hanagumi vice commander Ayame will now be starring in the plays, for the pleasure of her fans!

Sakura Taisen GB Geki - Hanagumi Nyuutai! is scheduled for a Spring 2000 release in Japan. As you may have guessed, a US release has not been announced, nor is it likely. Expect more Sakura Taisen-related news to come soon, since the first two games' remakes and Sakura Taisen 3 should be released on the Dreamcast before the end of the year.
