Tuesday's Tantalizing News Bits

First up is a very quick bit of news. Ubi Soft has opened a new site for one of the only Dreamcast RPGs on the market, Evolution. The site contains the usual assortment of game info and such, but also has some nice downloadable stuff too.

Mythic Games has announced their next multiplayer project, Dark Age of Camelot. Similarly to ever popular EverQuest, Dark Age of Camelot is a massively multiplayer online RPG, but with one crucial difference. This time around your main concern won't be slaying the beast of the week or going on some type of treasure hunt. The emphasis in gameplay is now on human to human competition.

Players can choose from one of any three major realms. The Britons who remained after the fall of Albion and the reign of King Arthur, the Celts from the magical isle of Hibernia, or the Norse who inhabit the land in the northern parts of the world beyond Albion.

Players will be forced to choose one of these three lands as their native territory, and have to train themselves within the relative safety of their homelands before they can travel to other lands. The main focus this time around is on conquering everyone else. So player versus player conflicts are actually encouraged, rather than spending all the time killing various creatures.

Mythic Games may have a good contender in the already crowded massively multiplayer arena on their hands.
