New Grandia II pictures and details!

Over a year after the very first screenshots, Game Arts finally unveils new pictures of their highly anticipated Dreamcast RPG Grandia II.

The new character designer is Yuushi KANOE, a manga artist known in the gaming industry for her work as a character-designer of the Atlus/Marcus RPG Early Reins. It is now confirmed that Noriyuki Iwadare returns as the music composer, for the joy of all Grandia and Lunar music fans.

Grandia II takes place in the world of Granacliff, on a continent named Shreesen. The characters are different from Grandia's (though it is rumored that the original Grandia characters will make a guest appearance) ; so far, four of them have been revealed :

Ryudo (17)
He makes a living working as a monster hunter for a Geohound-type monster extermination company. Since he has been practicing sword fighting so long, his sword-muscles are sharp and it gave him a chance to make his place in this world. But he sometimes works too hard on his arms. His realistic nature makes him hate people showing off with ideals and power.

Elena (17)
"A singer of Granas". Although she treasures her singing, she is also an apprentice in a sanctuary. She is attentive and caring about people in need. Ever since she was small, she's loved singing ; she believes her singing can clear darkness out of people's hearts, and bring back light to them.

Mileenia (Age unknown)
A mysterious young woman. With her beautiful long hair, she has indeed made herself an exquisite style. And with her whimsy, impatient temper, she dislikes people who don't make themselves clear. When she can't do what she wants, she gets sulky and irritated. She really is someone who lives with a certain independence, but....

Sky
Little is known about this strong hawk-man.

Grandia II is set for a Summer 2000 release. It is known that several publishers are interested in bringing over this game, a U.S. release is very likely for all we can tell.
