Wednesday Morning News UpdateToday is the day of the PC, as one major RPG is finally released, another just went gold, and a third is looming over the horizon. What are these three games? Can anyone say Final Fantasy VIII? Square EA has finally shipped the PC version of one of last year's more popular Playstation titles. The content of the PC version will be identical to that of its console cousin, however you can expect much smoother visuals since Final Fantasy VIII supports 3D acceleration. Also previously mentioned, players can now try their hand at the PocketStation game, Chocobo World. Westwood's Action RPG, Nox, has gone gold and is expected to debut on February 15 in North America. The rest of the globe will get to play through this crazy story a few days later on February 18. According to a post on Ion Storm's site by Bob White, Deus Ex may be heading our way sooner than it initially realized. "Except for a couple of plot stoppers and getting the end game set up correctly, Deus Ex is playable almost entirely. Many of our bugs are small details that will give the game a polished feel. We are still balancing combat and the reward cycle and I predict another month of good solid testing and tweaking on those issues to get them right." Awhile back Larian Studios announced a new RPG that promised everything and the kitchen sink. Unfortunately Larian Studios neglected to describe why this RPG would be such a sight to behold. At the time this mysterious game was known as Project C. While any details on the gameplay itself are still lurking in the shadows, Project C has at least received an official name, Divinity: Sword of Lies. I hope that when Larian Studios choose that name they didn't have their claims of its near perfection in mind. To wrap up this update on a different note, Victor Interactive is working on reviving a few Falcom series for the Dreamcast. Sorcerian is the first Falcom game to undergo a resurrection with a sequel that is slated for an April release. This new sequel will have multiple scenarios over four generations. Characters can learn skills from over 60 various jobs, and can also be created from scratch by the player. Now that Sorcerian is Dreamcast bound, will it only be a matter of time before Ys makes its next generation appearance as well?
