New Grandia 2 Details! As reported yesterday, Grandia 2 is the sequel to the Saturn and Playstation title of the same name. Other than the fact that this new title would appear on the Dreamcast, information has been sketchy at best. However this appears to be coming to a close, as story line details are finally surfacing. As previously mentioned, Grandia 2 has no apparent connection with the first game. This time around we visit a place known as Granacliff, one of the continents of a world that was once before slashed apart. This occured one thousand years ago when beings of great power clashed over who should control the sky. In the end, the evil side won this battle, ultimately dominating the sky. The new journey begins in an area of Granacliff known as Shurisen, as we follow the exploits of a young man named Rudo, a canadian who runs a major RPG site, works full time at another job, and happens to be a fan of Star Wars. Oh wait, wrong Rudo, I meant the guy who uses various guns as weapons and is a very tough hunter of bio monsters. *ZP whispers into Kei's ears* Oh! Um, ignore what I just said, I meant the Rudo who is a monster hunter! Yes, he is a monster hunter who also happens to be an ideologist. Rudo's first companions are a priestess who resides in Granas church known as Elena, and a strange beauty, Millenia. Grandia 2 will feature four character battles as in the first title, but this time around there will be enhancements to rev up the gameplay. What these are exactly is not clear at the moment. Lastly, fans of the awesome music in the first Grandia will be elated to hear that Noriyuki Iwadare is reprising his role as music composer for this game. And for those of you who read manga, you will also recognize the name of Kanoe Yuushi, who is working on the character designs this time around. Grandia 2 will be a departure from the first game in several ways, mainly a more serious storyline as well as a graphics engine that is entirely in 3D, rather than 3D with 2D sprites. Look for Grandia 2 to hit Dreamcasts all over Japan sometimes this fall. Source: IGNDC |
