Two New Videos.

Shenmue gets officially released in Japan on the 29th of this month. 3 days away. Of course, distribution to suppliers will, or already have occurred before that date. But even so, with the new year holidays sure to mess up mail order companies and the postal service, I'm left wondering when I'll get to play the game!

And upon playing the game. the first part of the story will unfold, as so far Sega and Yu Suzuki have kept very quiet about what the plotline will ultimately be. Will it just initially be a case of getting from location A to location B, while visiting arcades, talking to innocent pedestrians, getting into fights and buying branded cans of drink on the way?

I've just made available the Project Berkley Shenmue video clip first seen by buyers of Dreamcast Virtua Fighter 3tb back in November last year, and by visitors of some websites such as the homepage of CEX, a videogame importer that captured it as a Quick Time file. Why am I putting it up today? Because even now it shows aspects of the game that haven't been seen since. For example, Rei Shenhua, the main female character has been frequently seen in clips, demos, screenshots and artwork of Shenmue. Yet so far she hasn't done much beyond looking sweet and talking a bit. Here, it's another story. Magical powers? Yes, looks like it... Will these elements remain in the final game? I hope we don't have to wait for parts 2 through 5 (or beyond) to find out. Anyway, it's a bit of Shenmue history, that will either compliment or contrast with the final game, whenever it may reach our homes. Click here to go to the movie page with Shenmue videos.

And there is another new video. The attract sequence movie of Black/Matrix Advanced on Dreamcast, (Japanese game made available earlier this year). The running time of this video isn't very long at all, but it is crying out to be played loudly! Black/Matrix is a Simulation RPG that has already been on Saturn, and reviewed here at RPGFan (near the very top of this Saturn reviews list). It involves battles fought in a sprite-based, isometric 3D perspective. And to say that the whole thing is very dark is the best summary of the game that springs to mind right now! Ah, okay, I admit, I need to play it more. So I'll finish off this update and do just that! Click here to go to the movie page with the Black Matrix Advanced video.

Both new videos are MPEG files.

Bye Bye!
