AD Vision Acquires Arc the Lad Anime

If there is one thing that is prevalent in the anime industry, it is video game to anime conversions. In the past there have been enough of these to probably make it its own sub genre. While many of these series border on being atrocious, one or two will sometimes be halfway decent.

Keeping that in mind, AD Vision has announced that it will bring over the episodes of the Arc the Lad TV series to America. Arc the Lad is part of a line of RPGs that were released on the Playstation in Japan. Despite the increased popularity of the genre here, Arc the Lad and its sequels have never found their way to our shores.

The anime version of Arc the Lad uses the same cast from the games, but alters the storyline enough to make it fresh. Arc is portrayed to be a legendary figure rather than a mere adventurer because he protected an ancient artifact of great power. However, Arc is later framed for the murder of a king and flees the country. A woman named Eruku who is a descendant of the king, and a powerful magician, tracks Arc in hopes of gaining revenge.

So far there is no release date set for this anime, but don't count on seeing it anytime this year.
