Sierra Announces New PC Rpg

Arcanum is the first title being developed by Troika Games, A development house that was founded by the main creators of the now well known Fallout series.

Arcanum bears a few similarities to Fallout, in that a player can take control of various different characters or create their own from scratch, and then traverse the world via several possible paths. Except unlike Fallout, Arcanum can also be played by multiple players simultaneously over the internet.

The Character creation system doesn't force a player to pick a class. Instead there is a point system that allows players to acquire whatever attributes they choose.

The actual stat system consists of 8 basic abilities. 16 primary skills, such as healing and lockpicking. 80 different spells within 16 colleges, and 56 technological degrees based within 8 disiplines.

Battle style can be chosen to be in real time or with a more traditional turn based system.

There is also a day and night cycle. This cycle can affect the reliability of certain skills. Such as having more difficulty stealing during the day.

If Troika Games, can keep everything in this complex system running smoothly, while delivering a fun gaming experience, Arcanum could be the PC rpg watermark for some time to come.
