Zelda Gaiden to use 4MB Expansion Pak

Famitsu has reported that Zelda Gaiden, the semi-sequel to The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, will use the 4MB Expansion Pak for the Nintendo 64.

Many games use the 4MB Expansion Pak for the Nintendo 64 to improve the resolution of the game. This is not the case in Zelda Gaiden. The 4MB Expansion Pak will be used only to allow more enemies to be on the screen at one time, and to maintain a consistent frame rate.

Zelda Gaiden is set for a spring 2000 release in Japan. No news yet as to if the game will make it to the United States, but given the sales of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, it is almost a sure bet. Zelda Gaiden will be playable at Nintendo's game show, Space World, later this month.
