Wild Arms 2 gameplay details

Contrail has released new gameplay information on its upcoming RPG, Wild Arms 2. Two new "systems" have been announced for the game. The systems are called the "Personal Skill" and "Encounter Cancel"

The "Personal Skill" system isn't very complex. When a character gains a level, they also get skill points. These points can be added towards different statistics, such as strength or agility. You can make one of your people really quick, or really strong. It's up to you.

The "Encounter Cancel" skill is quite handy. With this, you will be able to skip some of the battles against weaker monsters. When a white exclamation point appears over the head of the party leader, you can press a certain button within three seconds to try to get out of the battle.

Besides these two systems, another interesting aspect of the game has been announced. The bosses in the game will have different parts that you can attack. While this is something used in other RPGs, in this game there could be consequences choosing certain parts of a boss. You might disable one attack, but the boss might compensate and use something stronger! Normal monsters that you encounter in the game will not have this feature.
