Chrono Cross Confirmed!

Finally, the speculations can finally end because Square has finally confirmed the existence of Chrono Cross, the sequel to Chrono Trigger, in a statement this morning.

Other tidbits about the game that came out this morning is the fact that the game is scheduled to be released during Winter 1999 on the Playstation and will indeed be one of the 4 playable demos coming with Legend of Mana along with Dew Prism, Front Mission 3 and Vagrant Story (in movie form only). The game will also support Dual Shock and the PocketStation.

The other thing that was announced was the changes in the staff for the sequel. First of all, Akira Toriyama will not be supplying the character design for this one and is replaced instead by Nobuteru Yuuki who worked on the animes Record of Lodoss War and Vision of Escaflowne. Yuuki also previously worked on Seiken Densetsu 3. Scenario designer Yuji Horii is also not coming back because he's currently busy working on Dragon Quest VII. Regardless of those changes, there is no doubt that Chrono Cross will be a huge title for Square and we certainly can't wait to play it. We will let you know as soon as we get some more information on the game as well as the first pictures of the game.
