Everquest Impressions.

I'm into my second week of playing. The first week was a tough one with the game servers going down a lot. This last week has been pretty smooth, no problems logging on for the most part, little lag, decent pings. I'm playing with a 26.4 connect, and the game runs fine. The servers can accomodate up to almost 2,000 players, and lag hasn't been much of an issue for me as I said. The graphics are decent, nothing fancy, much prettier then Ultima Online, nice 3D worlds, great spell effects, nice textures on certain characters and structures. I've ventured far, been lost plenty of times. The gameworld is massive, this is not like a traditional RPG world, you can easily get lost, then run into some powerful monsters and that is it. The first few levels were very tedious, learning how to kill, what I could kill, how to make money, the layout of the town, my skills, learning my first quest, and on and on. You have to play smart, especially on servers with player killing, if you get killed, you can lose all your items and money. The game does have questing as mentioned, which I haven't undertaken yet, another reason not to review it. I've seen my guild master, and he's given me my first quest, which I'm not powerful enough to undertake yet. Gameplay is very addictive, I've hunted, fished, joined parties to kill more powerful enemies, done plenty of exploring, getting lost and killed again. If you want to roleplay you can, learn what races are your natural enemies, and if player killing is on, and you see an enemy it's time to attack. Some players are into roleplaying, some aren't, everyone is really learning to play this type of game. I think this is where the future of games lie, and so far so good. I recommend checking it out, if your not sure wait for my full review soon.
