Dreamcast runs PlayStation gamesSpuriSoft, a Japanese programming team, has developed a PlayStation emulator that they announced to be 100% compatible with the PlayStation library of games. However, it doesn't run on a home computer. Instead it is in the form of a Windows CE inclusive GD-ROM for the Dreamcast! Using the software is as simple as loading the 'Spuri OS' disk, and then popping in any PlayStation game. This is the time when magazines are being dated 'April', so I'm not very quick to believe anything right now, especially when it relates to one of the key features of Sony's upcoming console, that being backwards compatibility. After all, the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 consoles have rumours and extreme exagerations flying all over the place right now. Still, the information was from issue 70 of EDGE, and they have never been an 'April Fools' type of publication at all. Sega's position in all of this is unknown. But it is almost certain that Sony will try to put a stop to it, if they can. |
