Saga Frontier 2 PicsMost people out there thought that Saga Frontier was an average RPG at best and the use of pre-rendered background in that game failed to impress like Final Fantasy VII did. The graphics just weren't as good and the sprite characters looked just silly on top of those CG pre-rendered backgrounds. For the sequel, Square decided to go in a completely different direction with the graphics. The graphics in the sequel are now all hand-drawn and look like a cartoon in books (but 10 times more detailed). Even though the backgrounds are all hand-drawn, I believe that they are still just pictures on the screen with which you can't have any interaction with (like FF7 and the original Saga Frontier) but at least, this one looks and feels different because this graphical style has never been seen in RPGs before (or any genre for that matter). It's refreshing to see something other than 3-D polygon or CG background. Hopefully, the gameplay will be as good as the graphics. Click here to check out 24 new pics of the game.  |
