Feedback on PSX2's 2D Capabilites!

Sting seems to be extremely impressed with the PSX2, especially its 2D power? Here is what a mysterious Mr. K of Sting has to say:

Mr. K : Sting Developer
The specs of PS2 were announced. WOW!!! 18.75 million sprites per second! It means it is possible to indicate 310 thousand sprites per frame. So, on a 320*240 screen, it's just as many as the sprites of 260 screens. 260 times scroll. We'll be able to play upper-grade games. What about the transmission of data by memory cards? If it is a lot faster with the upper compatibility, I'll throw away the PS I own and definitelly get the PS2. I'm expecting that a lot.

He is referring to the systems ability to display and animate sprites, Sting is fond of using sprites (2D objects, characters) in their games. The game world in Baroque was 3D, but all the characters in the game were sprites. So, 2D may not completely die with the upcoming systems. Thanks to Sting of Japan for this info, and stick with them sprites.
