My list, in brief: WoW had to be here, after pouring thousands of hours into it. Yes, I really did like FFX-2 slightly more than the first, simply because the gameplay was stellar. Chrono Cross was great, but just not the sequel we'd hoped for. Wind Waker set a new high bar for Zelda in my book, until Twilight Princess came along in 2006. Kingdom Hearts is dear to me, and for me, action RPGs don't get much more fun than Kingdom Hearts II. Dark Cloud 2 sucked me in and didn't let go for a long time. Level-5 is forever one of my top developers because of the sheer amount of polish in that game.

Final Fantasy IV is what made me a fan of RPGs, and the game still has one of my favorite RPG casts ever. The remake is everything I ever dreamed of the game being, and I dare say that no other FF game could top it for me, save a remake of Final Fantasy VI. The Legend of Zelda: Twlight Princess took everything I loved about Ocarina of Time and amplified it, then coupled it with a cool story, incredible art direction, gorgeous music, and one of my favorite end sequences of any game.

Valkyrie Profile: it's the story and characters that push the title into excellence. Going through the madness required to get the 'real' ending delivered a finale that's nearly unsurpassed in gaming. There are very few games I'd rank on the same level, regardless of when they were made.

(For the record, Chrono Trigger DS would have topped the list had I included ports. Excepted from those exceptions is Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, since the original release still fell within this window.)
